INTRODUCTION

Mathematics Department works as per the vision and mission of the college. Department’s objective is to arouse students’ interest in the beauty and applications of Mathematics and cultivate a mathematical attitude. Department always creates awareness regarding the importance of Mathematics in the modern era. Department motivates its students to work independently, to collaborate effectively in team work and to continuously enrich themselves through lifelong learning. Department continuously motivates every student for excellence and provides regular counseling. Department has active participation in NSS and other co-curricular activities. The department is running successfully and the results are comparable to the Nagpur University results. The Syllabus of the Department is as per the R. T. M. Nagpur University directives.

BRIEF HISTORY

The Department of Mathematics was started in the year 1971 under the headship of Prof. M. C. Bhave. In 1974, Prof. M. C. Bhave left the college and in his place Prof. S. M. Pandit was appointed. In 1979, Prof. V. K. Mohabey joined the department as Lecturer. In 2005, Prof. S. M. Pandit retired from service. Both Prof. S. M. Pandit and Prof. V. K. Mohabey completed their M. Phil. courses during their service periods. From the year 2009, Prof. P. R. Dhongle, joined the college as Head of the Department. In 2009 itself, Prof. P. R. Dhongle got himself registered as Ph. D. research scholar in the field of “General Relativity and Cosmology” at R. T. M. Nagpur University, Nagpur. He has been awarded Ph. D. degree in Mathematics by R. T. M. Nagpur University, Nagpur in June 2015. He got promoted under CAS as Associate Professor in 2022. He is also working as the IQAC Coordinator & Nodal Officer (MIS & AISHE) in the College. At present Dr. P. R. Dhongle along with ad-hoc teachers is conducting the classes in the Department.
